Description

For solo piano. This pop-jazz ballad instrumental from Jazz Pianist-Composer Mary Louise Knutson’s In the Bubble album opens with three lush descending chords designed to bring you down into your heart and into the present moment. Listen for the intimate story that unfolds in the music. Even though it originated as Mary Louise’s story, your interpretation of the music is your story, your truth. “Talk to Me” compassionately asks, “What’s on your heart today?”

Following the introspective theme is a transcription of Mary Louise’s piano improvisation from the album. In time, the theme returns in entirety and closes with the rich harmonies from the introduction and a transcription of Mary Louise’s final lines of improvisation. The piece ends with an elegant flourish of ascending arpeggios.
